As a child, I have always been amazed and intrigued with the Gundam cartoons, especially its models. What makes me amazed is that they differ from old robot cartoons. They look more modern and they look more machine-like. And they have been evolving ever since. I used to build kits back then. I started when I was elementary. But back then, I used to just force parts out of the runners, without using any tools. I'm always too excited to complete them even if I knew that I needed cutters.
There was a time that I had a new kit (Double X Gundam). After I bought it, I had to wait at my father's office and then go home at the same time. There were no tools there. I was too excited to build them that I didn't even wait to get home to complete them. I completed them at his office. Gundam kits excites me! I had at least twelve 1/100 kits, it was a big deal for a kid to have that many back then. I even had a master grade MK II as a gift from my brother. I was so happy and contented with building them. But as I get serious in college, I lost interest to Gundam, in general. When we moved house, it didn't even worry me that I left them back at the old house.
As I grew, I have been passionate with a lot of things. I've been
involved in arts in all my life. I am a musician, painter, cartoonist,
crafter, a "chef" and mainly, a visual communicator. I had one summer
devoted in perfecting songs (guitar). When I cook I make sure I
understand why ingredients are involved and what their purpose is to a
certain dish. I want my ingredients fresh, no shortcuts, no processed
foods, i want them all natural. But one thing that I do since I was 5,
is draw and draw and draw. I studied finearts after all. I studied Visual
Communication (VISCOM) in University of the Philippines, college of
Fine Arts. These are my skills. All in the field of arts. I want my
details clean and perfect, even if it isn't something noticeable, I'll
still give time to it. I have my own way of passion, and that is what
makes an art after all. It's not the end but the means. Your process of
doing something is the art.
Now that I'm currently working, I
have more resources. When I was studying under fine arts, I always had
difficulty when it comes to materials. I always felt that I couldn't be
better at something due to lack of income. True I buy somethings when it
is needed. But I do not have access to some things. For example, as
simple as painting. I can't buy good quality paints. My computer can't
handle Photoshop well. I can not even buy the cheapest effects
for my guitar. I do not even have an amplifier (hence I excelled more
in using acoustic guitar in the church band). In short, I usually did
not have the right tools for the right job or for the things I wanted to
learn or do. I did not complain to that, I just tried to maximize what I
had.
Since I have resources, I am now expanding my
skills and knowledge in certain arts. I am free to explore and try
new, unfamiliar works.

Why is this
site dedicated to Gundam kits? Because I am back in building Gundams
(Gunpla) and want to share my experiences with you. It is only early
this 2012 that my interest for building kits came back. Now, I am more experienced,
slightly wealthier, enlightened and knowledgeable in "arts" and how to
accomplish them. Despite my experience, I admit that this is a new thing
for me -painting and customizing my kits. I'm a beginner in Gunpla. This is a new start for me. I've begun to practice, explore and experiment on some of my
kits, and there are a lot of errors/mistakes on my part, even if I had
research beforehand. Be aware that this is mostly about practicing and
experiencing the tools and materials. One can know more the nature of
the material and techniques when you practice, experience and make
errors. There will come a time that when you will make errors or buy the
wrong stuff, you will think that you wished you hadn't bought them.
It's some times expensive and costly, but think of it
this way, you are paying for the growth of your own knowledge and
experience. That is priceless.
In the end, my goal is to master
techniques and understand the tools, equipments and materials that I
use while I fail or be successful in my adventures. I have to start somewhere. Cheers! :-)
